It was an honour to receive the title of Kyoshi from ISOK’s Senior Technical Committee in September 2016. A certificate signed by Vince Morris Hanshi and Chuck Merriman Hanshi now sits safely waiting to be framed and eventually take its place on the dojo wall. The term “Kyoshi” is often translated as “teacher” or “Professor” and implies not only a high level of technical skill but also of teaching ability – not too much to live up to then….
